Personalize Your Sleds With Amazing Snowmobile Graphics
Many snowmobile manufacturers directly offer graphic packages for their customers. Manufacturers use OEMs to make these snowmobile graphics, and can give their customers personalization options for their new sleds. Since they have to satisfy everyone's differing tastes, manufacturers offer various options and choices. Factory-installed graphics are a great choice in terms of quality of fit and finish, far more than other customizers.
Aftermarket packages can create a more dynamic look for your snowmobiles. These days, there are two types of plastic surfaces for snowmobiles, smooth and rough. The smooth surface is almost as shiny as a car's paint job. The rough one isn't as glossy and is a bit textured, somewhat like a belly pan. Graphic application in these cases differ as well. Smooth surfaces require a wet method, and rough surfaces will require dry installation. The rough surface needs a dry application so the graphic sticks better.
A machine will be required to install the graphics on the panels. This is a great way to keep the panels secured. Additionally, whoever is installing the graphic alignment can work on it consistently.
Keep your hands clean so you don't accidentally contaminate the sticky side of the graphic during rough surface applications. Pick off the corner and lay the graphic out on the panel with your fingers. You should keep in mind that you can't have any air bubbles. If you do have some, peel the graphic back and try to apply it again.
If you're satisfied, you should put some heat on it. This portion isn't required, but is highly recommended since it secures the corners better and makes any wrinkles disappear. Graphics will shrink with heat, so make sure what you apply isn't too hot. You will damage the graphic this way.
The smoother surfaces will need to be clean before you start your application. Spray your fluid or soapy water on the sticky area of the graphic, as well as the surface. Dripping fluid is perfectly fine. You will then lay the graphic down and move it into the right position. Then, you should squeeze the fluid from the center of the graphic all the way out.
There shouldn't be any fluid remaining in the center. It's a problem that is difficult to fix later on. This is similar to air bubbles you can have in rough surface installations.
Once your graphics are installed, you can trim some of the edges off. However, if you've done a good job, you won't need any trim on it. Use a razor knife to trim the edges, leaving at least a fourth of an inch from all the edges. This will make your graphic look much more professional and appealing. It will also help not make the graphic catch on anything.
After you install your graphic with either the dry or wet methods, step back and take a hard look. The affect your graphics package has will be very noticeable, in the best possible way. Riding your snowmobile will be a whole lot more enjoyable with this fresh new look. You will not regret your decision to add new character to your sled.
