Engine Sludge Symptoms To Look Out For

By Kerri Stout

One of the most common problems that car owners would have with their automobiles would be a buildup of sludge inside their motors. Now if one would want to know if he has this kind of issue, then he should take note of certain signs. Now these six are the engine sludge symptoms that one would have to take note of.

Now one of the most common symptoms of this kind of problem would be when the car does not start. Now starting up a car should be quite easy as all it takes would be to turn up the ignition. If it does not want to do that, then one may have to check if he would have an oil sludge problem.

Now when this type of thing would happen, one has to check his spark plugs because most likely, there is oil on it. Now with some thickened oil on it, one will notice that the spark plugs will not spark anymore because of the hard substance. So it is very important for one to clean his spark plugs if he notices that this is the problem.

Now another thing that one would have to take note of would be the oil consumption of the car. If he feels like the car uses up oil faster than the usual rate, then a clog may actually be the problem. Because of the clog, the right amount of oil will not be distributed to all parts of the motor properly which means that only just a little bit of oil was consumed.

Now if one notices that the oxygen sensor is not giving an accurate reading, then do check the motor for sludge. Now the oxygen sensor is there to detect if the car has enough oxygen in it for it to be able to function properly. Now if the oxygen sensor shows that there is not enough fuel, then there possibly is a clog.

Now another thing to take note of would be the low oil pressure indicator. If the low oil pressure indicator would light up, then the first thing that one would have to check would be if there is a clog. This is simply because the oil will not circulate properly to all parts of the motor since there is a clog somewhere there.

Now an overheating engine is definitely one of the most obvious signs that there is thickened oil stuck to the motor. Now the problem here is that if there is a clog, then proper oil will not go inside the motor which means that when the motor runs, it does not have anything to run on. So it will just keep on running until it eventually dies.

So basically, these are some of the most common symptoms that one will be experiencing if he is having a sludge clog in his motor. Now if he notices that there really is a clog, then all he would have to do would be to clean the motor a little bit. In order to do this, all he needs to do is to get a dry cloth and wipe the thickened oil away.
