Lizard Man Of South Carolina Seems To Hate Cars

By Cornelius Nunev

Earlier this year a husband and wife in SC got up to learn their automobile twisted and mauled. Community legend tells of a beast that terrorized a teen back in 1988. Can this be the return of the Lizard Man?. The couple might need a payday loan to get the car fixed up.

Got up to discover automobile mangled

Leon Marshall awoke on July 4 to find his automobile mangled and mauled. "I ran into the house and told my wife to call the police because something happened to the car," said Marshall.

"The tooth marks went completely through the fender," his wife Ada reported. "That's metal! And it just bent it up. It was like it was a piece of tissue paper."

The damage was very clear. The pair did not know what could have brought on it though. There was a long gone tale told. The community sheriff knew it well.

What does the sheriff have to say?

Previous sheriff Liston Truesdale is not 82 years old. "This part here is how it all started in 1988," he said. "We got a call to come and look at something that had mauled a car. I went out there and looked at that damaged car, and I haven't seen anything like that before." The damage was blamed on a creature that several locals had reported seeing.

Teenage boy has a close encounter

A 17-year-old boy reported the Lizard Man had an encounter with him about the same time the station got called about the mauled vehicle, as reported by Truesdale. Evidently the teen was returning home from work when he had to repair a flat tire. While putting away his tools, he saw something approaching that had red eyes and three-fingered hands. The boy said the lizard man was seven feet tall. It looked like a lizard that was standing.

The boy took off as fast as he could. This was after jumping into his car. The beast jumped onto his trunk and climbed onto the roof of the speeding car. He saw the beast looking through the windshield at him. The teenage went on to say that he managed to throw the thing off by swerving back and forth. When he come back home he was terrified, and it took his parents two hours to calm him down.

Came from a responsible family

As reported by Truesdale, the boy came from a responsible family and passed a polygraph test. He also seemed like he was really scared. "He never changed his story," Truesdale concluded.

Then a rash of calls started coming in about Lizard Man sightings. There were 50,000 people that visited to be able to try and see the creature as the story became media frenzy.

Just like before

Truesdale said the damage on the Marshall's automobile was almost identical to two other cars reported to have been mauled by the Lizard Man back in 1988. At least Truesdale has a sense of humor. It is a bit skeptical though.

"Everything (around here) is laid off on the poor Lizard Man," jokes Truesdale. "But at this point, he must have grandchildren!"

Just a primate

There is no Lizard man, as reported by investigator Tom Biscardi. "What you've got is a primate, a thing called a swamp ape," Biscardi said on a site.
