Covering Essential Vinyl Wrapping Do's And Don'ts

By Michael Robert Peterson

Outdoor advertising is important, to say the least, and one of the ways it can be accomplished is through vinyl wrapping. This is a process that can be applied to a litany of vehicles, regardless of how small or big they are. The designs of these wraps are also quite striking, which can only mean good things in the long term. For those who would like to maximize their results, as far as these wraps are concerned, here is an evaluation of some of the crucial do's and don'ts.

Do measure the size of each vehicle. Before the actual wrap creation process is carried out, measurements must be taken. Specifically, the size of each vehicle must be considered, dimensions being taken down so that accurately-sized wraps are created. Suffice it to say, each vehicle size will be different. Even though most will see this as a given, it's still important to recognize this step if you're looking to get involved in the process of outdoor marketing.

Don't overlook corporate requirements. As creative as you may want to be, in the process of vinyl wrapping, it's vital to understand corporate requirements. Clients will come to you with specific demands, whether they're relate to colors, the designs themselves, or what have you. As a designer, it's up to you to match these requirements. All the while, you have to ensure that the best wraps are made from a visual standpoint.

Do consistently clean the surfaces. What's just as important as the creation of these wraps, are the surfaces they will soon be applied to. Specifically, you have to make sure that the surfaces in question are kept clean, which is a point that can be supported by companies such as JMR Graphics. Without regular maintenance via car washes and the like, the existing dirt particles will only make application more difficult. You'll be surprised by how much clean surfaces work with vinyl wrapping.

Don't be careless when applying. These wraps, while useful in their own respects, can only be useful when they're applied onto various surfaces. However, problems can arise when they aren't set in place well. It's unfortunate when these wraps start to peel or come apart earlier than they should, seeing as how they are made with quality in mind. It's all comes down to application, meaning that the better this is done, the stronger their results will be.
