BP Issues Gas Recall, One Of The Few

British Petroleum has announced a gasoline recall for the states of Indiana and Illinois. A tank of fuel was contaminated before it was parts of those states. Though they are significant, a fuel recall is a rare thing.

Recalling British Petroleum fuel

The oil spill was evidently not enough, since the world's least preferred fuel company is now mucking up people's vehicles. According to AutoBlog, British Petroleum, generally referred to as BP has issued a gasoline recall, for a batch of contaminated gasoline from a BP refinery in Whiting, Ind. Polluted gasoline from the facility has gone out to numerous stations in northeast Indiana and northwest Illinois, which has caused some issues for motorists in that area.

Some cars will not start at all while others struggle to do so, ABC Chicago pointed out.

The gas in question is from one storage decrease, and it brought on one customer to get $1,200 in repairs. He had to have his spark plugs exchanged, his fuel lines flushed and the injectors cleaned. The regular unleaded-grade fuel was sent to Thornton's, Luke Oil, Costco, Meijer and other distributers, according to AutoBlog.

Fixes not covered by warranties

Some of the few that seem to have occurred in the past few years is a fuel recall from a refinery in Minnesota. According to Minnesota Public Radio News, a Mankato, Minn., refinery recalled a large consignment of fuel after testing revealed too much ethanol had been added, that contains more than the standard 10 percent. An incident of a polluted batch of fuel occurred in August 2009 in Melbourne, Australia, according to TheMotorReport.com.au.

Never including motor automobile fuel

Gas recalls for gasoline or diesel do not occur too often. Most fuel recalls are for fuels other than those used in motor vehicles and those are still uncommon. For instance, one fuel recall was for a gel fuel used in decorative torches and similar devices, according to CBS Los Angeles, which was issued in June of this year.

It is really uncommon to see a fuel recall, such as a propane recall. They are seen very infrequently. They are all very uncommon.
