Making Your Custom Front License Plates Count

By Andrew Foster

Being unique is good. The way people want it done sometimes makes sense, sometimes it does not. Everybody is however entitled to do their thing, as long as rules are followed. Same is true when you personalize everything you own and carry, including your car.

Many wants to know what drives people to do this, since they do not come cheap. They say custom front license plates are one way to let the world know how they should treat you. It allows the owner of a vehicle to choose a letter or a number combination, sometimes both, for their plates. It comes out as a need to having your personal identity attached to your car.

They are purchased for passenger vehicles, buses, pickup trucks, motor homes, vans, hearses and motorcycles. You can apply for one at any Secretary of State branch office. Approved personalized license plates are mailed to the owner within 45 days. This will come after the owner receive a receipt for pending approval in their chosen combination.

It makes sense, especially in places like Reading, Pennsylvania. In 2007, a study conducted revealed that there are about nine million people who had those tags on their cars. They cannot have the same combination as the regular plates. Each must be unique and cannot have the same configuration as the others.

They say it somehow is a way of letting the world know who you are. Especially on the road, while driving. Or whenever your car is parked some place where they are likely to notice the tag. People make it a point to make the plates so hard to miss because of what it says.

People like to express themselves. In this country, there are about nine million motor vehicles with customized plates. Psychologists say this is not just because of vanity. This would be something much more complicated than that, in a good way.

Somehow, it appears as an indication of wanting to explain who they are through symbols and signs. It helps them predict and control what happens in their lives. It can boost self esteem, even though this comes off as sometimes egotistical. It is part of an identity people like to put on their cars.

They are fun to have, actually. It may come off as an unbelievable way of a person in going through any lengths to get attention. Then again, it is also showcases their creativity when restricted to a seven character message. Just think about what people put on their twitter statuses.

Sometimes also called as vanity plates, this type of thing can boost self esteem. It serves as a mission statement and an extension of your identity as a person. That is not just vanity. That is an introduction you give yourself for those who need them on the road. It is also like having twitter on your car, only you are limited to putting six to eight characters. Depending on the design, that can already mean so much.
