The Seven Common Transmission Diagnostic Problems

By Amy Thomas

One most difficult task of man when having a car, most especially the drivers who do not have trained ears and eyes is the determining of a car problem. The inner workings inside the car may be compared to an inner working inside a human body. One example to this is if you have chest pain. Surely, you will think that you have some illness, but if your pain takes a longer time on existing and you are already experiencing difficulties on breathing, surely, you will think that you have asthma.

So the automobiles can also be diagnosed in the same manner. There might be problems from the mechanical systems and you will sense that there maybe some processes that are not working well. And by the time that you already noticed some malfunctioning of the vehicle, this will be the time for you to assess issues and to look for ways in order to fix the problem. Transmission diagnostic Rockford IL is a process of diagnosing the mechanical systems.

These systems are the ones responsible for the proper control of power application coming from the engine towards the drive shaft. It is a part that usually experiences all the problems compared to other parts because of heat and friction that are produced by their movements and the interaction of their components. Most major transmissions may result to its arising if ever it is being maintained well.

Having a transmission repair can be quite expensive. Following and performing the procedures for its maintenance can help you in preventing the common problems to occur. So if you have an automobile, it would be very important that you must know the common transmission problems so it would be easy for you to diagnose and fix it.

These are some of the commonly experienced problems. First is lacking of response. At times, you will experience the difficulty when shifting your gear and also, delays may occur when shifting if you drive or park. Most probably, the cause of it is clutch. In this kind of situation, a clutch should be replaced as soon as possible.

Two, hearing the whining, clunking, and humming sounds. For sure, it would be impossible for a driver to determine the car sounds when transmission problems occur. And for sure, you will hear some sounds that are unusual for you to hear. Three, fluids are either low or have leaks. A leak is one very common symptom so it must be fixed immediately.

Fourth is grinding and shaking. All cars are expected to run just smoothly without any shaking, grinding, and jerking. Usually, the problem to this are its gears. Fifth is the burning smell. Usually, the cause of the smell are fluids that are overheating.

Sixth is checking the engine light. The engine light which is located in the dashboard can be the best indicator if there is something wrong with the car. The engines are placed with sensors that will alert the computer when there are some unusual activities from a certain process.

Lastly is the noise even in neutral mode. If you found out that there is noise, the simple solution to this is adding or changing the fluid. If it will not work, some parts may need to be replaced such as the gear teeth, reverse idler gear, or the bearings.
