Check radiator fluid by using a dipstick and remember to dilute coolant with water prior to adding it.

Regularly check out your radiator. Let the car run briefly, shut the engine, then open the hood. Refrain from opening the radiator when your car is on. Use your dipstick to check fluid levels and mix water with coolant ahead of pouring it in.

Look out for signs that your mechanic isn't very good. If they ignore your questions or talk in circles, you'd be wise to not use their services. It is important that you trust the person that is repairing your vehicle, and if you don't, then go somewhere else.

Consider taking pictures of all areas of your vehicle before you bring it in to be repaired at an auto body shop. Though the majority of such shops are trustworthy, some shops strip vehicles for profit. Therefore, documenting your vehicle can help you identify stolen items in case this were to happen to you.

Change your oil at least once every couple of months to stay safe. You should regularly get the oil changed to make sure your vehicle runs smoothly. In the long run, omitting this important step could cost you thousands of dollars, and it could lead your vehicle to an early death.

Don't try to diagnose and fix complex automotive issues. Keep in mind that you are not a professional. Problems can be more complicated than they initially appear. Let the auto repair shop diagnose the problem. Give them as much information as possible, but in the end, let them perform the diagnosis.
