Why The Kubelwagen Is The Famous Bucket Car

By Bernice Terry

The Volkswagen Kubelwagen was known back in time when it was used by the military. They call it the bucket car for the reason that it looked like it was a bathtub with wheels attached to it. However, there are more interesting things that you need to learn about it.

If you are wondering where it was used, the German military troops were the ones who benefited from it the most. It was originally designed by someone named Ferdinand Porsche and was created in time for the infamous World War II. The prototype that it was patterned to was what they called the Volkswagen Beetle, but eventually it took on the name Type 82.

The vehicle was clearly cut out for heavy duty work as proven by the several test runs that they did on it. European winters were known to be quite extreme in levels, thus the need to test out equipment for the long haul. What surprised even the development team is the way that it outperformed the rest that were tested alongside it.

Testing missions have to be done through a stretch of several series to really see how far it can go. Luckily, even the developers got what they wanted because it showed versatility for off road and on road dry runs. This goes to show that it can definitely function during extreme conditions and perform quite well.

Even those who were greatly involved in the development page were surprised with what they saw. Then again, it was really hardwired to withstand the simulated and actual pressures because it was used for the military. In which case, it had to be really hardworking and persevering when operated through the mentioned conditions.

Originally, Adolf Hitler was responsible for the Volkswagen, also known as the car of the people. Ferdinand Porsche was the one who engineered the car which is known to carry around 3 children and 2 adults, just enough for the family. The VW Beetle was based on the idea that families all throughout could afford it by paying through an affordable savings scheme.

The Volkswagen is also used as a base by other car manufacturers upon the designing of their products. Ideally, they had to appeal to a certain type of market so that varying preferences can be inputted. This list will briefly explain what the classification is and to whom they are most fitting.

The Audi is the choice of the classier ones who want to invest in luxury and indulgence. Meanwhile, the Seat is for the sporty ones or even the emotional ones who like something secure and handy. The Skoda meanwhile is for the rational buyers who want the best buy among the market.

The kubelwagen did start out to be an interesting base for the future cars. However, it is more involved with military work than as a vehicle that is used for every errands around the locality. For heavy duty work, this famous bucket car does the job throughout extreme weather conditions .
